What Can Be Customized?
Q: What can I customize on my piece?
Just about everything. When you order a custom piece from K&N, you can choose:
· Leather color — from natural tan to deep burgundy, black, navy, and more
· Size — need something a little bigger or smaller than what you see in the catalog? Just ask
· Tooling and carving — decorative patterns, initials, or designs hand-carved into the leather
· Hardware — brass, antique brass, nickel, or black hardware depending on the look you want
· Strap style and length — crossbody, shoulder, or wrist strap options
If you have something specific in mind that isn’t listed here, reach out anyway. I love a challenge.
How to Place a Custom Order
Q: How do I get started with a custom order?
The easiest way is to reach out through the Contact page and describe what you have in mind. Don’t worry if you don’t have all the details figured out — that’s what the conversation is for. I’ll ask a few questions, share some options, and we’ll work out the details together before anything gets made.
Q: Do I need to know exactly what I want before I contact you?
Not at all. A rough idea is enough to start. Something like “I want a crossbody bag in a dark brown, not too big” is plenty to work with. We’ll figure out the rest together.
Pricing and Deposits
Q: How much does a custom order cost?
Custom pricing depends on the size, leather type, and complexity of the piece. Most custom orders fall somewhere in the $80–$400 range. Once we’ve talked through what you want, I’ll give you a clear quote before any work begins — no surprises.
Q: Is a deposit required?
Yes, a deposit is required to begin work on your custom piece. This covers materials and reserves your spot in the queue. The remaining balance is due when your order is complete and ready to ship.
Timeline and Production
Q: How long does a custom order take?
Every piece is made by hand, one at a time. Standard custom orders typically take 1–2 weeks from the time we finalize the details and your deposit is received. More complex pieces with intricate tooling or carving may take a bit longer — I’ll always give you an honest timeline upfront.
Q: Can I get a custom order rushed?
Reach out and let me know your deadline. I’ll do my best to accommodate when I can, but I won’t rush a piece at the expense of quality. If the timeline doesn’t work, I’d rather be upfront about it than deliver something I’m not proud of.
What If Something Isn’t Right?
Q: What if I’m not happy with my custom piece?
Your satisfaction matters. If something isn’t right, contact me within 7 days of receiving your order and we’ll work it out. Custom pieces are made to your specifications, so I ask that all details are confirmed before production begins — but if there’s a defect or craftsmanship issue on my end, I’ll make it right.
Q: Can I make changes after I’ve placed my order?
Changes can sometimes be accommodated before production begins. Once I’ve started cutting and stitching, changes become difficult or impossible without starting over. That’s why I take time upfront to make sure we’re aligned on every detail before I pick up a tool.
